Jack Harries and Finn Harries are best known for their Youtube Channel JacksGap. The channel was originally started by Jack back in June 2011 in Jack's attic bedroom in Chiswick, South-West London. The purpose of it was to post weekly videos to friends and family whilst on his gap year after finishing his A-levels at sixth form.
In November Jack decided to introduce twin brother Finn into one of his videos and since then video views suddenly shot up. 3 months later and 12 videos later (February 2012) the channel had already reached 1000 subscribers.
In April 2012 their JacksGap Facebook page reached 2000 followers followed by their Youtube channel which then reached 10,000 subscribers. At the end of the month they then became a Youtube Partner. This meant that they were able to generate money from the views on their videos.
On the 3rd May 2012 JacksGap hit 20,000 subscribers. By this time they had created 'cheeky' videos including - Twins, Christmas Spirit, Weird Skills, Twins Attempt Cinnamon Challenge, London Youtube Gathering, Chubby Bunny Challenge, Rome 2012, Ask Jack, Twin mail and some others.
Events such as the London Youtube Gathering led to video creations with other Youtuber Partners such as OliWhite TV and Sam Pepper.
Towards the end of May the Youtube channel had reached 1,000,000 total plays.
Whilst traveling in Northern Thailand in July, Jacks channel had hit 100,000 and so that only meant one thing ... a celebratory video - Jack and Finn Naked Bungee Jump - 100,000 Subscribers.
In February 2013 the twins hit 1 million subscribers in which they created a video where "Finn" was fake. To this date the video has had over 2 and a half million views.
From then on the channel has continued to become an internet success with video views escalating everyday.
Just 4 months on, on 12th June, exactly 2 years after creating the channel, the channel reached 2 Million subscribers which lead to another video release named - 2 Million Subscribers. The video was made from a compilation of all of their previous videos.
From the channel becoming so successful, it made it possible for Jack and Finn to put their earnt money towards developing equipment to help create more content for the online generation. It has made it possible for them to complete travels including trips to - South Africa, New York and Thailand.
Connections though the online social media site Youtube has also made it possible for them to develop their friendship and ideas. They have appeared in other Youtube Partners videos including Sam Pepper, Caspar Lee, Dan Howell, Tyler Oakley, Alfie Deyes, Marcus Butler, Zoe Sugg and many others.
To date the channel currently has 2,909,102 subscribers and 121,369,133 views.
Jack and Finn have recently created their own website (jacksgap.com). They created the website because they wanted "a platform where they could freely create and produce content of all different types." And somewhere where the community can access the content and ask questions and engage with other members of the community.
They are also currently working on a project which is still in development and has been for the last 3 months. More details will be released when we find out exactly what it is. "This bigger project will result in us producing even more content online with a bigger group of creative people - something that's separate to JacksGap but similar."
They have both expressed the fact that in the Youtube world it can be very pressurising to create interesting and engaging content every week and that "posting weekly can also create pressure that stops you from being creative or making the content you really love".
With the channels subscribers about to hit 3 million we can only hope for another video and even more content to come.
To me Jack and Finn are seen as entrepreneurs and I look up to them for what they have done and how far they have come.
