Run Run Run | Fitness Inspiration

Many people choose to put 'loosing weight' or 'staying fit and healthy' at the top of their New Years Resolutions list, and I happen to be one of them. Before I get started, I just wanted to say that by no means do I want to loose a lot of weight, I just want to become a healthier and fitter me.
So like I said, many people decide that a New Year means a new start for them whatever that may be. The majority of people wish to become that little bit healthier and fitter. Well thats been my wish for the last couple of years too, but have I stuck to it ... no! So I decided that this was definitely the year to change that.

Ok so I didn't stick to it first of all this year. I'd say it got to the middle of January before I'd even think of eating any kind of fruit or even going for my first run. But I knew I was determined and that it would happen, although i'd never taken to running. Around a week ago I decided that yes I would step up to this challenge of becoming healthier.  I went out food shopping with my mum where we bought more of a variety of fruit and vegetables. It was a pretty hard decision! We left the supermarket with not a single piece of chocolate or sugary snacks in sight! Since then I've eaten pretty healthily, with deserts including raspberries and low fat yoghurt. I would definitely recommend those! Although that doesn't mean you cant have sugary snacks now and again as long as you keep it up the balanced diet!

So the healthy eating was all well! Time to mention the running part.
Its one of those things that no one wants to do, unless your a runner or into fitness of course! After downloading the Nike Running App one evening it persuaded me to go out. Whats so bad about running? That night I actually went for my first run of the year. I'm not going to lie, it was only around the area that I live in but I was out for around 30 mins (walking and jogging). It may not have been much but I certainly felt better after. And anyway whats wrong with starting of at the bottom and working your way up, thats the way it goes right?

Like I said its only been about a week/2 since all of that but since then I've been on a few runs and I want to be able to prove to myself that changes are possible. I want to be honest and say its not easy! Not at all! You need to surround yourself in positivity and motivation. Even I gained more motivation today and it couldn't inspire me more. I was out on my run round my local park earlier today when I saw an old couple using the colourfully built gym equipment. It wasn't just that, but the weather was awful too! The little old man took out his towel and brush to brush down the rain that had soaked the equipment and continued to use it. Thats what made me complete my run today. If they can even make the effort then surly I can!

Its only the start of my challenge but I feel like blogging about this too may motivate others and motivate myself in hope to carry on. I only tend to run about 2 miles at the moment but like I said its a stepping stone.
If you have any inspiration or motivation you'd like to share then I'd love it if you could comment below!

  2. Ohh!! thank you so much for this post Sophie! I loved when you said "whats wrong with starting of at the bottom and working your way up, thats the way it goes right?"! It is so true. I find when I give myself permission to be imperfect, that's when I have fun. Especially regarding running (also not the biggest fan but feels good when I do run hehe). Can't wait to read more xo http://rockpaperglam.com/
